Monthly Goals Check-In: October 2017

monthlycheck-in

Man, I’ve been kicking ass this month. My goals were:

  • Finish the rewrite of Under Your Spell  (Ummmm…no. But I’ve made progress.)
  • Finish all of my scheduled blog posts  (Yep.)
  • Finish building the last website  (Nope.)
  • Complete the assigned audiobook preps  (Did 6. And I’ll finish the last by the 31st.)
  • Sort bedding and purge my clothes. (Not yet, but I might still get to it by Monday.)
  • Finish the two very, very late Christmas presents. (Getting much closer!)
  • Start holiday shopping. (Yep.)
  • Send out review requests (Yep.)
  • Finish the coursework for the surprise class I took in September. (Yep.)
  • Complete scheduled client edits. (Finished all 4.)

And for the bonus round, I also created a new lesson for a coaching client, did a metric fuckton of market research, updated one of the websites I manage, read three books, and mapped out a holiday project with Jess,

So, for next month, my goals are:

  • Finish all of my scheduled blog posts.
  • Write and practice my presentation on POV for the November GRRWG meeting.
  • Finish the guest blog posts I agreed to.
  • Finish my part of the holiday project.
  • Finish the two very, very late Christmas presents.
  • Finish sewing at least four holiday gifts.
  • Continue the holiday shopping.
  • Complete scheduled audio preps.
  • Complete scheduled client edits.
  • Finish building the last client website.
  • Continue rewrites of re-release books.
  • Read three more books.
  • Sort the bedding and purge my clothes if I don’t finish that this month.

Okay, I think that’s everything for now. What are your goals for the month? Be sure to check out Jess‘ check-in, too!

Monthly Goals Check-In: September 2017

monthlycheck-in

It’s that time of the month, again–time to see what I accomplished, and what I didn’t.

Okay, so last month, I said I’d:

  • Release Rewritten (Yep!)
  • Finish all my scheduled blog posts (Yep)
  • Continue writing daily (Mostly)
  • Finish building the websites (Two out of three…)
  • Make progress on some re-releases I’ll be putting out (Nope!)
  • Complete the assigned audio preps (Yep)
  • Complete the spreadsheet for my friend’s business (Yep…but, it wasn’t quite what she was hoping for, so it needs to be redone.)
  • Finally sort out the bedding and purge my clothes (Nope)
  • Finish two very late Christmas presents (Nope, but I made progress.)

So, for October, my goals are:

  • Finish the rewrite of Under Your Spell
  • Finish all of my scheduled blog posts
  • Finish building the last website
  • Complete the assigned audiobook preps
  • Sort bedding and purge my clothes
  • Finish the two very, very late Christmas presents
  • Start holiday shopping
  • Send out review requests
  • Finish the coursework for the surprise class I took in September
  • Complete scheduled client edits

I think that’s all I’m actually going to schedule for right now. Be sure to check in with Jess, too, and see what she’s got going.

Monthly Goals Check-In: August 2017

monthlycheck-in

August is, historically, not a great month for me to get stuff done. I’m not sure why that is. But since Jess Jarman has been coming to stay with me every August, I’m getting more done.

This month I…

  • wrote all my scheduled blog posts and an extra or two
  • went to the Rust City Book Conference with Jess Jarman and Jenny Trout and did panels and a book signing and played Cards Against Humanity and helped name a new martini and had a fantastic time
  • prepped two audio books (I’ll have three done by month’s end)
  • edited two novels (180K)
  • started helping a friend with a new aspect of her business
  • wrote over 21K that I’m really happy with and I still have a few days left of August to make it to 25K.
  • I’ve been working on 3 websites
  • I went to see Billy Joel with Jenny Trout and her daughter

Next month, I want to…

  • Release Rewritten
  • Finish all my scheduled blog posts
  • Continue writing daily
  • Finish building the websites
  • Make progress on some re-releases I’ll be putting out
  • Complete the assigned audio preps
  • Complete the spreadsheet for my friend’s business
  • Finally sort out the bedding and purge my clothes
  • Finish two very late Christmas presents

So, that’s it for me. What’s on your list of things to accomplish for September? And be sure to check out what Jess and Torrance are kicking ass at!

Monthly Goals Check-In: July 2017

monthlycheck-in

My July goals were pretty simple. I wanted to:

Write a wedding ceremony that the bride and groom would both love.

(Nailed it…unless they lied to me to make me feel better.)

Officiate said wedding without turning into a sobbing pile of goo.

(Eh…I made it through with minimal crying.)

Make progress on my current story.

(I’ve written over 15K and I still have a few days to go. I’m determined to make it to 2oK.)

Keep up on my scheduled blog posts.

(Yepper. Though I still need to write a couple non-scheduled wrap-up posts.)

See Jenny Trout and her daughter perform in Annie.

(Did it and had a blast!)

Catch up on sewing and knitting projects.

(I put the finishing touches on the wedding dress and flower girl dress, made a top for me and a couple journal covers, and started a few other things.)

Read stuff that wasn’t editing or audio prepping.

(Five books.)

Kept up with client edits and audio preps.

(Yep.)

Purged the clothes and bedding in my room.

(Nope.)

Organized my sewing crap.

(Nope.)

Reformatted, tweaked cover art, and re-released my YA.

(Yep.)

But, you know what? I’m okay with all of this. The most important stuff got done, and I’m super pleased with the 15K that I wrote.

That’s not to say that I’m not still fighting the trifecta of depression, stress, and exhaustion, but I guess the important thing here is I’m still fighting. Or moving forward. Or something.

I think Jess is the only other one who posted the monthly check-in, so pop over and see what she’s been up to.

Halfway Through the Year—2017 Goals Check-In

monthlycheck-in

So…it’s come to this. The halfway through the year goals check-in. Things aren’t…going as well as I’d like.

These were my goals at the beginning of the year:

Get a handle on the negativity that’s seems to be plaguing me.

Do what I can to affect positive change in the world–even if they’re only small things.

Write day and night like I’m running out of time.

However…this is how I’m currently feeling.

nervous-breakdown

Because everything is chaotic and scary and I’d like that shit to stop now. So…I’m looking for volunteers for this:

I’m desperately hoping that my end of the year check-in is a hell of a lot better. And I’m also hoping Deelylah, Torrance, and Jess are having a better time of it.

Monthly Goals Check-In: May 2017

monthlycheck-in

This month…

I am so done with it, and I don’t even know where it all went. Much of it has been lost to stress, anxiety, and depression. This does not make for good goal fulfillment.

Let’s take a look at the goals I set for May, shall we?

Revise and re-release at least one of my stories that I have the rights back on. (Nope. But I did get an utterly gorgeous new cover that I can’t wait to share.)

Progress on RP. (Yes.)

Progress on TFAD (If we can count progress as I have more of an idea for this thing than I did last month, we can call it yes.)

Complete 7 client edits. (4 down, 3 to go – but I still have a few days left.)

Complete all May blog posts. (Yep.)

Progress on 4 client websites. (3 out of 4.)

Complete the 7 sewing projects I owe people. (1 out of 7, but I still have a few days.)

Begin deconstructing and reconstructing wedding dress. (Dress is deconstructed and is in the process of being reconstructed.)

Read some more. (Yep. Holy shit, Jonathon Strange and Mr Norrell is bizarre but delightful.

Okay, for June I’m going to:

Do all the June blog posts.

Finish the wedding dress and make a flower girl dress.

Progress on RP

Progress on TFAD

Revise and re-release at least one of my stories that I have the rights back on.

Go on our annual writers retreat and laugh myself stupid and write all the words.

Write a wedding ceremony.

Go check out the other bloggers and see how they did. Hopefully, it was better than me. Jess and Deelylah.

Monthly Goals Check-In: April 2017

monthlycheck-in

Man… this has been a month. A long, weird, disquieting month.

Sadly, my mother-in-law died recently, so much of this month has been dealing with grief, and frustration, and anger at a certain family member on that side who needs to be throat punched. But that’s life.

Weirdly, I managed to accomplish quite a few things. This was my list.

Finish the client edits I have scheduled. (Yep. Scheduled 3. Edited 6.)

Complete all April blog posts. (Yep.)

Finish up work on 2 of the (now) 5 websites I’m working on. (Finished one, progress on two and waiting for client response on both.)

Knit 3.5 pussyhats (Yepper.)

Progress on new book and Mist & Stone. (Progress on new book. Zilch on Mist and Stone rewrite.)

Continue with the Organized Home Challenge (Yes and also no. We’re still cleaning and purging but not in order of the list.)

Finish sorting stuff for donation. (Still sorting. Still donating.)

Sew more journal covers and open Etsy site. (Nope.)

I also completed a bunch of things that weren’t on the list.

I proofed, reformatted, and reuploaded 6 of my books.

I did a podcast with Focus on Fantasy Romance about editing.

I updated my blog links.

I cleaned up my blog tags and categories.

I also read 6 books from my TBR pile.

All things considered, I did pretty well this month.

Okay, so…my goals for May are:

Revise and re-release at least one of my stories that I have the rights back on.

Progress on RP.

Progress on TFAD

Complete 7 client edits.

Complete all May blog posts.

Progress on 4 client websites.

Complete the 7 sewing projects I owe people.

Begin deconstructing and reconstructing wedding dress.

Read some more.

Be sure to see how the other bloggers did. Jess, Deelylah, Torrance, and Gwen.
